Package Overview

On this Rwanda – Uganda safari connect, you will trail through the exquisite wilderness of the “Land of a Thousand Hills” and the “Pearl of Africa” respectively.

So on the safari, you will track Gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanos national park which is part of the Virunga ranges. The greater Virunga cross to three countries which include Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. There’s over 10 habituated Mountain Gorilla groups in Volcanos therefore during Gorilla trekking prepare to encounter one of them.

You will then cross to Uganda for some wildlife experience in the golden-yellow savannas of eastern Africa. Uganda’s savanna parks shelter variety of wildlife which includes small and big game/ mammals with four of the Big Five. While in these parks, expect to see various wildlife species like Kobs, Buffalos, Elephants among others. You will  participate in some sunrise and sundowner launch cruises to explore Uganda’s beautiful waters. Prepare for some breathtaking cruise on lake Bunyonyi, Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth and as well the Victoria Nile in Murchison Falls national park.

On the other hand, you will participate in Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest which is referred to as the “World’s Primate Capital”. In Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls, you will browse the savannas on a safari game drive for an opportunity to see four of the African Big Five.

Note: Welcome to Africa; Rwanda-Uganda Safari Connect! You will be warmly received by the guide on arrival at Kigali airport. He will then  transfer you to the accommodation in Kigali.

Package Itinerary

Start with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, then go for a city tour around the beautiful Kigali. You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial (KGM) where you will get to know about the dark past of Rwanda, and you will visit the Presidential Palace Museum. These sites give you an insight about Rwanda’s past.
After lunch, you will transfer northwest-wards to Volcanos national park at Ruhengeri. The journey through this part of the country is characterized by towering mountainous backdrop. Check-in at the lodge where dinner and overnight will be.

Have an early breakfast, then proceed to the park headquarters at Kinigi before 0700hours where you will meet with the ranger guide, he will take you through briefing about the Gorilla trekking etiquette in Rwanda’s Volcanoes national park. After briefing, you will enter the forest and start tracking the Mountain Gorillas. Tracking the mountain Gorillas may last just a few hours to some good hours depending on various factors like the location of the Gorilla family from the starting point, the pace of the trackers etc. as a result, reasonable level of fitness is required due to the long duration tracking can last and the challenging terrain. Once you find the Gorillas, an hour will be given to you in their presence, after you retreat to the starting point and head back to the lodge.

Start with a hearty breakfast at the lodge, then depart Volcanos national park; Rwanda and embark on the journey to Uganda’s Lake Bunyonyi, a beautiful site located in the southwestern part of the country. This region is one of East Africa’s most beautiful area and it will reward you with some of the most remarkable sights of nature.
In the afternoon, after a lunch break, you will explore the serene waters of one of Africa’s beautiful and deepest lake; Lake Bunyonyi on a boat/ canoe ride. You will visit some of its 29 Islands. The lake is known for its impressive number of birds mainly seen skimming along the the crystal waters.

Checkout from the lodge after a hearty breakfast, leave Bunyonyi area and travel northwards to Queen Elizabeth national park. The journey through this part of the country on an African murram road is absolutely rewarding with a wealth of natural beauty. You will enter Queen Elizabeth through the southern sector of Ishasha where you will spot some wildlife. Head to the lodge later, it is here you will retire for your night and dinner.

O/night: Ishasha Wilderness Camp (Luxury)/ Ishasha Jungle lodge (Midrange)/ Ishasha Ntungwe lodge (Basic).

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast, transfer very early to the park where you will take on an early game drive within the Ishasha sector mainly known for its tree climbing Lions, will this be the chance to catch the Kings of the savanna plains lying in tree branches? Lots of wildlife including, big and small game, birds and others will be seen. The morning presents you thrilling moment to watch the sun rise over the luminous savannas of Africa.
After a lunch break, you will take on a boat cruise /trip along the Kazinga channel, crammed with lots of wildlife species like birds and mammals that come to drink off from the waterhole and relaxing along the shore.

Today, you will do another game drive around the plains of Kasenyi, where you will see lots of wildlife. You will also do a drive around the explosion craters north of Mweya, the scenery here is food for the eyes and great to capture some of the best Kodak moments in the African wilderness. Later, depart Queen Elizabeth and embark on the drive to Kibale Forest National Park where you will be for your Chimpanzee tracking experience.

You start with and early breakfast and continue to the park reception area at Kanyanchu, here you meet with the ranger who will take you through briefing and later, enter the forest to start tracking the Chimpanzees in Kibale forest. These primates, which are members of the world’s Great Apes are some of the most interesting primates and species to watch. Kibale forest is home to more than 1’500
Chimpanzees and 13 different species of primates. You will spot other primates like the Vervets, L’Hoest Monkeys, Black and White Colobus, and many others; once you find the Chimps, you will have an hour with them, then transfer back to the start point.
In the afternoon, you go for a nature walk within Bigodi wetland, just located outside the park and it hots lots of bird species, primates and other mammals like the Sitatungas.

Start with a hearty breakfast at the lodge, then start off the journey northwards to Murchison Falls national park through the Great Bunyoro region and Kingdom. You will have a lunch break at Bugoma jungle lodge then continue to the park area, check in at the lodge where dinner and the night will be.

O/n: Paraa Safari lodge (luxury)/ Pakuba Safari lodge (midrange)/ Heritage Safari lodge (basic).

Today after breakfast, you will hit the norther bank of the park and browse the savannas looking out for the wildlife especially the big and small mammals which congregate here. Expect to see the buffalos, Elephants, Giraffe’s, Dik Dik and many more.
In the afternoon take lunch and go for a launch cruise along the Nile all the way to the bottom of the stunning waterfalls. In the evening, you will take part in 1hour sundowner cruise as you watch the sun go to rest on a Nile.

Start with breakfast and later visit top of the magnificent and roaring waterfalls.
Later leave for Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will arrive in the afternoon and prepare for a Rhino tracking experience.
Afterwards, travel to Kampala on a nearly 3 hour journey and check-in at the lodge where dinner and overnight will be.

After breakfast, you will embark on a Kampala city tour with your guide. You will visit places like Gadhafi mosque, Mengo Palace, Kasubi Royal Tombs.
Later have a lunch break then take on a journey from Kampala to Entebbe airport for your flight.
