Package Overview

As part of ATW Holidays Africa’s contribution to the wellbeing of the communities and people around us, we have different charity organizations we extend support to in various ways. We organize solidarity/ charity or volunteer programs combined with various tourist activities such as wildlife and cultural experiences. These packages are basically geared towards making sure travelers have purposeful trips and contribute to local wellbeing in a destination they visit.

So on this 6 day Uganda Wildlife safari with Charity, you will experience Uganda’s wildlife and also visit two charity organizations.  You will track Gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest, which is a UNESCO site located southwest of the country. Secondly you will browse the savannas of Queen Elizabeth on a game and wildlife viewing experience. You will also visit two charity homes, Maria Rosa Mystica Orphanage in Katwe-Kabatoro near Queen Elizabeth and finally end this Uganda safari with a visit to Missionaries of the Poor charity home in Mengo Kisenyi a Kampala suburb.

These charity homes takes care of people from various backgrounds such as children and elderly with different mental and physical impairments. Some of these children are orphans and others abandoned. So on this safari, during your visit to the charity centers, you are free to make any donations or contribution. The donations may be in form of tangible items like clothes, foodstuffs, scholastic materials, wheel-chairs, clutches, financial support to procure medicines for the clinic at the home (M.O.P) etc.

Note: Welcome to Uganda! You will be warmly received by our guide on the day you arrive at the airport. He will then transfer you to your overnight accommodation in Kampala.

Package Itinerary

Have a hearty breakfast, later leave Kampala on a journey southwest of the country to Bwindi where you will be for your Gorilla trekking adventure. En-route, you will stop at the Equator for a simple introductory safari experience in Uganda, take some snapshots and souvenir shopping then continue to Mbarara for a lunch break before continuing to the lodge in the milieu of the rolling beautiful landscape. It is here dinner and overnight will be.

Overnight: Buhoma lodge (Luxury) /Silverback lodge (Midrange) /Buhoma haven lodge (Basic). Meal Plan: Full Board [FB].
Or Any equivalent in the 4 sectors of the park depending on the gorilla tracking permit sector

Begin with an early breakfast, then leave the lodge with packed lunch boxes and assemble at the park reception area for registration and briefing about the Gorilla tracking etiquette. Later, your ranger guide leads you into the forest on this quest to track the Mountain Gorillas following the trails to where the allocated gorilla family will be. Walking through this misty shrouded mountain forest is surreal and absolutely amazing.
Trekking takes a few hours to nearly half day depending on the location and movement of the gorilla family you are tracking; once you find them, you spend an hour watching and photographing them, as your guide takes you through about their behavior. Later retreat, have picnic lunch and back to the reception and lodge.

Have a hearty breakfast, leave Bwindi and drive north of the park westwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This journey leads through some of Africa’s dirt paths as you enjoy Uganda’s beautiful countryside all the way to the southern section of Queen Elizabeth known as the Ishasha sector known for the tree climbing Lions. Time permitting, you will take on a short evening game drive for chance to see if you encounter the tree Lions as well as other wildlife. Have a picnic lunch, dinner and overnight at the lodge.

O/night: Ishasha Wilderness Camp (Luxury) /Ishasha Jungle lodge (Midrange) /Ishasha Ntungwe Safari Camp (Basic). Meal Plan: Full Board [FB]

Start off with an early breakfast, prepare and leave by 0600hours for a wildlife game safari in the park, expect to see various mammals and other species that the park shelters. On the drive around Kasenyi hope to see Buffalo herds, Warthogs, African Elephants, and Antelopes among others. These may be opportune moments to spot Lions plan their morning hunt, or as early grazers nourish on moist grass.
After a lunch break, you take-on a boat cruise to see wildlife in a different perspective along the Kazinga channel. Expect to see particularly the Hippopotamuses, you also see other game like Elephants, Buffalos etc. along the shores that come to cool off from the scorching sun. Dinner and retirement for the night at the lodge.

O/night: Elephant Plains lodge (Luxury) /Buffalo lodge (Midrange) /Marafiki lodge (Basic).

Have an early breakfast, then go for a visit to Maria Rosa Mystica (MRM) in Katwe near Queen Elizabeth national park. Here you will interact with the children and people at the home, enjoy some entertainment and afterwards depart for Kampala with a break en-route at the Equator and for lunch.

O/night: Sheraton Hotel(Luxury) /Cassia lodge (Midrange) /Grand Imperial (Basic). Meal Plan: Full Board

Start with breakfast, leave the hotel and go for a short city tour where you will visit Mengo palace of Buganda Kingdom, the Royal Mile and Kasubi Royal tombs which is a UNESCO site. Later you will visit Missionary of the Poor (MOP) charity home. We shall go to local markets and do some shopping of the items we shall take to the home, spend some time with the children, inspire them, give them hope and teach them something new etc. In the late afternoon prepare to depart to Entebbe for your flight back home.
