Package Overview

On this safari, you will savor some of the cultural delights of Uganda’s Karamojong cultural group. You will delve into the delights of one of Africa’s most preserved rustic cultures that’s close to the Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania. The Karamojong are known to be cultural nomads and warriors living with their cattle as pastoralists.

The Karamojong’s are found in the east to the northeastern part of Uganda and have been able to preserve their cultural values amidst forces of change. So on this Uganda cultural safari, you will immerse in the fascinating values and traditions of the Kajong cultural group. As part of a local community tourism product, you will participate in local lifestyle. You may also decide to camp with the nomads under the star-studded skies of Africa.

On this Uganda safari, you will also visit Kidepo Valley national park and Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for an African big five experience. But more on the safari is the source of the Nile cruise and Sipi falls adventure.

Note: Welcome to Uganda! You will be warmly received by the company guide the day you arrive at the airport. He will then transfer you to the hotel in Kampala for overnight.

Package Itinerary

After breakfast, the guide will pick you early at the hotel and start off today’s half day Kampala city tour. You will visit the Mengo Palace for Buganda Kingdom, Kasubi royal tombs- a UNESCO heritage site and the Bahai mother of Temples in Africa.
Have a lunch break and then transfer eastwards of the country to Jinja where you arrive in the evening and check-in at the lodge on arrival for overnight and dinner.

O/night: Wild-waters lodge (Luxury) /Kingfisher lodge (Mid-range) /Nile Explorers Camp (Basic).
Meal Plan: Full Board

Have a hearty and leisurely breakfast, then go for an astonishing boat cruise along the magnificent waters of the mighty River Nile to the source where the river starts its long journey to the Mediterranean Sea. On this roughly 1.5-2 hours voyage, you will see some wildlife species and also witness the impressive scenery of the Nile.
Later depart to Kapchorwa at Sipi Falls area. Check-in at the lodge where dinner and overnight will be.

O/night: Sipi River lodge (Midrange) /Sipi Valley resort (Standard).
Meal Plan: Full Board

Start with breakfast, then go for an adventurous hike of the Sipi Falls, the falls are one of eastern Uganda’s picturesque attractions. The hike leads past impressive scenery and spots.
Later you will participate in a coffee tour where you will follow the story of coffee from farm to cup. Retire for the night at the lodge.

Have a hearty breakfast, then hitthe road and depart Kapchorwa to Moroto. The route in this part of the country rewards you with views of traditional homesteads called the Manyattas. On arrival you will check-in at the booked accommodation where you will have dinner and overnight.

Wake up very early and have breakfast at the camp, then today, you will follow some of the daily activities of the locals in this beautiful area, having a firsthand feel and test of their untouched traditions and values.
Things to do today: you will take on a half day biking tour or for those who can’t, go on a village walk to explore the cattle trails/ paths of the nomadic warriors, you will encounter the local people in their communities and their houses known as the Manyattas, learn and experience their fascinating architecture, craftsmanship among others. Today you may have, packed lunch which you enjoy somewhere in the wilderness
Later at the end of the day, you can spend a perfect camping night with the nomads under the star-studded skies of Africa.

Meal Plan: Full Board

Today, head-out to mount Moroto, the home of the Tepeth. You will embark on an excursion through their land on a nature walk and cultural experience. Behold and take in the beautiful scenery of region.
You will delve into the values and practices of these interesting people who dwell in the highlands of Karamoja. Retire for the night at the camp.

Leave Moroto after an early breakfast transfer to Kotido on your way to Kidepo, visit the Nakapelimoru village, whose traditional and cultural beauty is to behold. This village of the Jie clan/people is known to be East Africa’s largest traditional village, after about 2-3hours of your visit, continue with the journey to Kidepo Valley National Park where you arrive in the evening hours at your safari lodge. Lunch is en-route or packed from the camp.

O/night: Apoka Safari lodge (Luxury) /Kidepo Savanna lodge (Mid-range).

Start-off with breakfast at the lodge, leave with packed lunch boxes and go on a full day wildlife experience in the park. You will browse the savannas on a safari game looking out for the African big game like Lions, Buffalos, Elephants and others like Giraffes, Jackals, Cheetahs, Ostriches and many other wildlife species. Trails/ trucks through the Narus and Kidepo Valley offer remarkable moments to see the wildlife. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at the lodge.

O/night: Apoka Safari lodge (Luxury) /Kidepo Savanna lodge (Mid-range). Meal Plan: Full Board (FB)

Go for an early wildlife viewing session around Apoka on a walking safari with an armed ranger guide, this walk provides opportune moments to watch the wildlife up close, and the feel of creeping through the African wilderness is rivalled by no other, the walk through the savannas as you encounter prints of wildlife like Elephants is life changing and emotional. Later have your lunch packs and leave Kidepo to Gulu town where you will have overnight.

Overnight (o/n): African Roots Hotel or Boma hotel.

Have a very early breakfast and leave Gulu town to Nakasongola with a target of arriving Ziwa Rhino sanctuary in the mid-morning hours, on arrival, you will go for a Rhino tracking session through the wilds of Ziwa, you will walk through the wilds with an armed ranger to see these members of the African Big Five. Have lunch here or en-route and travel back to Entebbe airport where you arrive in the evening to check-in for your flight back home.
