Proclaimed as the “Land of a Thousand Hills”, because of the rolling and towering mountain landscape, Rwanda is a fascinating African safari destination. It’s a small but beautiful African country with one of the fast growing economies in Africa. A country with a troubled past, and now bragging as one of the continent’s safest places to be at.
Therefore, on this 9 days Rwanda safari, you will explore the country’s most iconic safari destinations. You will explore three of its protected national parks, as well as getting to learn about its past. So to your adventure, you will track the Gorillas in Volcanos National Park, Rwanda’s signature wildlife experience.
On the safari, you will as well explore the city of Kigali and visit places like Kigali Genocide memorial. Southwest of the country is Nyungwe forest national park where you will be for a Chimpanzee tracking experience. More to the Chimpanzee experiences in the park is the adventurous canopy walk where you stand 60meters over the forest floor. Additionally, you will visit Akagera national park in the east of the country rewarding you with an encounter of the Big game of Africa.

Note: Welcome to the Land of a Thousand hills! Meet and Greet with the company guide on the day you arrive at Kigali International airport. You will then be transferred to your overnight accommodation in Kigali.

Package Itinerary
Leave the hotel after a hearty breakfast, embark on a tour of Kigali city and visit places like the Genocide memorial center where you will learn about the events that transpired during the 1994 Rwanda’s genocide. Later visit the Presidential Palace museum and local market.
Have lunch in the afternoon, then depart Kigali to northwest of the country to Volcanos national park at Ruhengeri. Check-in at the accommodation where dinner and overnight will be.
Meal Plan: Half Board [HB]. Overnight (o/n): Sabinyo Silverback lodge (Luxury)/ Da Vinci Gorilla lodge (Midrange) /Amarembo Gorilla Village (Basic).
Begin with an early breakfast at the lodge, then transfer to the park reception area at Kinigi where you find the ranger guide. He will brief you about the Gorilla tracking etiquette and later enter the forest for the gorilla trekking adventure.
After some hours of walking, you eventually come to face with the Mountain Gorillas and spend an hour in their presence watching them.
Later transfer back to the starting point, then depart to Gishenyi at Lake Kivu.

You will start with breakfast, then explore the superb waters of Lake Kivu. You will navigate the lake on a boat cruise, and Kivu is one of Africa’s Great lakes. During you boat trip, you will explore some of the Islands and in the afternoon, have a lunch break.
In the evening relax at the beach side/ resort of the lake enjoying the beautiful scenery and cool breeze.

Depart Gishenyi and hit the road on a drive southwards on Lake Kivu to the town of Kibuye where you will stay for a night before you continue to Nyungwe Forest national park.
You will take a boat trip around and along the lake where you visit the Napoleon Island known for some of its wildlife like bat colony.

Transfer southwards to Nyungwe forest after breakfast, on the drive, you will enjoy the beautiful countryside shrouded in dim green verdure. On arrival you will be received with a warm welcome at the lodge where you will have your stay during your Chimpanzee adventure in Nyungwe forest.

Today after breakfast, transfer early to the reception area where you will meet the ranger guide who will take you through briefing about Chimpanzee tracking. Trekking through this forest is extremely adventurous due to its un-parallel nature of the forest.
Tracking the Chimpanzees may take quite a long time due to the wider movements and coverage of these primates, however, it is worth moving through this remarkable mountain jungle. Once you meet the Chimpanzees, you spend an hour in their presence watching them then retreat to the start point.
After a lunch break, you will take on one of Nyungwe’s most exciting and adventurous activities, the Canopy walk, where you enjoy sights of the mountain forest while standing about 60meters from the ground.

Start with breakfast, then depart Nyungwe for a journey east of the country to Akagera national park. On the drive, you break the journey in Kigali for lunch and then continue, arriving in the evening hours.
You check in at the accommodation where you will have the stay for your safari in Akagera National Park.

Leave the lodge after breakfast, then browse the undulating savanna plains of the park on a game viewing experience. On this half day game drive, you will see lots of wildlife including big and small game. Anticipate to encounter wildlife like Roan Antelopes, Giraffes, African Elephants, Lions occasionally, Duiker and many others. The park commands a stunning scenery that is feast for the eyes and offers great Kodak moments.
After a lunch break, you will participate in a remarkable launch cruise on Lake Ihamba where you might get chance to capture the thrill of the African sunset over the tranquil waters. On this cruise, expect to see wildlife like Hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and others along the shores and nearby in the swamps. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, browse the beautiful savannas of the park on an early game drive that will mark the end of your Rwanda royal safari episode. You will see lots of wildlife to add on your safari checklist.
Later, depart the park and transfer back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at the hotel or at the airport for your flight.
